Flash Web Page Construction

- Save psd design file for web as JPG.

- Import to Flash Library as a background layer and drag across timeline.

- Library - new symbol - button.

- Within button window - Drag JPG design onto stage and line up the cross with where button one will be.

- New Layer - draw square button over the cross guide. Insert key frames within UP OVER DOWN UP channels. UP - button is black and plain. OVER- Text appears underneath. (write this under button) DOWN - square changes colour UP - change square back to original colour.

Back to Scene 1.

- Drag button one onto frame 1 of a new layer. Place button into correct location on background.
- Extend button across timeline to same length as background.
- New layer - name as button1 details (to appear in screen)
- Insert keyframe at frame 20 and apply action script - "stop"
- New layer above both previous layers - Leave as blank key frame and extend to length of button 1 and background. Apply action script on this layer as "stop".
- Click on button on the stage and apply action script: "on - release" and "go to and play (20)"

Repeat this for the rest of the buttons ensuring that each button extends from frame 1 to the end frame. Also ensure that the 'details' layer for each button only appears every 10/20 frames for one frame with the action script "stop". Each will appear further along the timeline as more buttons are dragged over.

Each button should have a blank layer with action script on frame 1 "stop", lasting the entire length of the timeline (as required)

- New flash doc. Modify - 800x600 pixels.

I want my web page to be designed in a way that conveys the kind of work that I do. My initial thoughts are to show my work and details within a frame, such as a cinema screen or television screen, which ties in with my video work on the course.

I intend to make my web page quite hand-made in style, so therefore i will take into account how to construct any imagery in Photoshop and also what the text will look like.

Here are some samples of my initial designs....

I have come up with the idea of creating buttons within the remote control for the television which the user has to use to navigate through my CV/portfolio. I see the construction of the page forming in Flash as i feel that although my knowledge of it is basic, i think i have more experience with this software than i have with other HTML based/linked programmes.

Although i like the two tone design i think that because of the hand drawn effect on th TV being quite rough it perhaps needs more colours or a setting in order to contextualise it. Perhaps as it is an old 'retro' TV, a similar background such as a living room would help to give the page more of a theme.

The retro wall paper i think immediately gives the television set a context. I am happy with the colours, which aren't too distracting or taking over from the details that will appear within the screen.

I have managed to find a font on the internet which matches the style of the drawn TV set much better than the previous font.

Influences and Targets

The online portfolio that I will be creating will take influence from a number of websites that I particularly admire and of which the style/interactive elements I intend to adopt. I want my website to be fairly interactive without over complicating it and also have some form of animation. I will take inspiration from some of the following websites:
